New York imposes a state estate tax. For dates of death from January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026, the basic exclusion amount is $7,350,000. The New York estate-tax credit phases out above the basic exclusion amount and is unavailable once the New York taxable estate exceeds 105% of that amount.
